History Museum of Palma--Bellver Castle

One of the most beautiful castles in Spain

Bellver Castle—gothic Majorcan style—was built at the beginning of 14th century ordered by King Jaime II. It is located some three kilometers from the centre of the city of Palma and at some 112 meters above sea level. It has stunning views to Serra de Tramontana and the port—from where its name came from “bell veer”, beautiful view in antique Catalonian. It is the unique castle in Spain with circular floor.

It is the seat for History Museum of Palma as well as having a room dedicated to Jovellanos—a Spanish statesman, author, philosopher and a major figure of the Age of Enlightenment—who was a prisoner.
